This is another interesting little creature that popped up in our backyard. The boys made friends with this wind spider and began feeding it beetles, rolly pollies, and ants. This aggresive carnivore ate the abdomen and thorax according to Chance (those are exact words) but failed to get the head because it was clenched to his pinchers. The boys thought that the spider had met its fate so they buried it...........
The boys came in very distraught and began sobbing as they told the story of their little friend. Greg went outside to see if it was actually dead and unfortunately it had been buried alive. It was a sad, sad day.

i can't wait to visit you!! what a cool place for 4 little boys. i don't know so much for the only girl:)
thanks for the pictures!! it's one thing to tell about spiders, and vultures but all together different when seeing it. too bad the boys weren't home:) janis
I'll have to remember the "carnivore...." quote, because I get the feeling when I tell people about Chance's impressive knowledge of animals/insects they don't quite get how impressive it is. The wind spider is very freaky and you are going to get mega cool mom points in the future when they realize they got to keep a pet spider :)
Oh my gosh Cindy.....I can't believe all of the weird things that are going on up there. You are damn right that neither one of those things would have happened in good ol' TC. I am sooo impressed with Chance's arachno a and p. THORAX??? He is a walking encycolpedia!!!! LOVE JEN K
look like a Camel Spider found in
Iraq, some of my buddies say that they have found these things on ther beds or even on there chest while they sleep. THe Camel Spider is alot bigger than this however.--Thomas F.
